It is held by roughly the top 1% of CertainTeed contractors nationally, and earning it requires strict standards for business history, licensing, insurance, and workforce training, including that at least 75% of a company's installers are certified Master Craftsman Roofing Contractors and that the owner has passed CertainTeed's Business Fiscal Responsibility exam, alongside a verified customer-satisfaction rating of four or higher on CertainTeed's five-point TrackRecord program.
This credential authorizes the contractor to register CertainTeed's strongest warranty, the SureStart PLUS 5-STAR coverage, which on a qualifying CertainTeed Integrity Roof System provides a 50-year non-prorated, transferable SureStart material warranty on a single-family home, full materials-and-labor coverage including tear-off and disposal, and a 30-year workmanship warranty backed directly by CertainTeed rather than by the contractor alone. The 5-STAR tier only activates when the full Integrity Roof System is installed, meaning every component from underlayment and ice-and-water shield to shingles, starter, ridge caps, and ventilation comes from CertainTeed; below Premier, the Contractor's EDGE program has lower levels that grant access to 3-STAR and 4-STAR warranty coverage instead.
For a homeowner, a ShingleMaster Premier contractor is the only CertainTeed tier that unlocks 5-STAR protection and its 30-year manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage, which a non-credentialed installer of the same shingles cannot offer.
