This Privacy Policy explains how Pagelift LLC, doing business as RooferWatch (“RooferWatch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the RooferWatch website at rooferwatch.com and related services (the “Service”). It is incorporated into and subject to the RooferWatch Terms of Service.
By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Short Version
RooferWatch is a public-records project about roofing contractors. Most of what we publish is business information drawn from government and third-party sources, not personal information about everyday visitors. We collect limited personal information when you create an account, get verified, pay for a membership, or submit an inquiry to be matched with a contractor. We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share consumer inquiry details with contractors so they can respond, because that is the point of submitting an inquiry. The sections below give the full picture.
Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Account and profile information: name, business name, email, phone number, mailing address, and login credentials when you register or claim a listing.
- Verification information: information used to confirm your authority over a business listing, such as a phone number for a one-time code, a business email, a mailing address for a verification letter, or a license number for cross-check.
- Payment information: billing details for paid memberships. Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
- Consumer inquiries: if you ask to be matched with a contractor, the contact details and project information you submit (such as name, email, phone, address or service area, and a description of the work).
- Communications: information in your messages to us, including support requests, correction requests, and other correspondence.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring pages, and timestamps, collected through cookies and similar technologies and server logs.
- Analytics: aggregated information about how the Service is used, collected through analytics tools.
Information from public records and third parties
We compile and publish information about roofing contractors from government and third-party sources, including Secretary of State filings, state licensing boards, OSHA enforcement records, EPA Lead-Safe (RRP) certifications, building-permit data, address-verification data, manufacturer certification programs, and publicly available reviews. Some of this information may include the names, business addresses, or contact details of individuals associated with a business, such as a sole proprietor or registered owner. We obtain this information from the sources, not from the individuals directly.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- operate, maintain, and improve the Service and its records;
- create, display, and update contractor profiles and the directory;
- verify account ownership and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized claims;
- process memberships, payments, renewals, and related billing;
- match consumer inquiries with contractors and deliver those inquiries;
- send transactional messages, alerts you have signed up for, and service notices;
- respond to support, correction, and other requests;
- monitor, secure, and protect the Service and investigate misuse; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
Contractor Profiles, Public Records, and Removal Requests
Listings are generated from public and third-party data and do not require the listed business’s consent. We publish what the sources show, with dates and citations where available.
If you are an individual whose personal information appears on the Service because of your association with a listed business, or you believe a record about you or your business is inaccurate, you may contact us at support@rooferwatch.com to request review, correction, annotation, or removal. We review reasonable, specific, good-faith requests and act on them at our discretion. We are not obligated to remove accurate information that is drawn from a public source, and where a source is the origin of an error we may direct you to correct it at the source.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, measure traffic, and improve the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works. Where required, we honor recognized browser-based opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC).
Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain accounts and records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Public-records information that makes up the directory may be retained and updated on an ongoing basis as part of the project. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- opt out of certain sharing of your personal information; and
- not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
To make a request, contact us at support@rooferwatch.com. We will verify your request before acting on it, and we may decline requests where an exception applies, such as information we are required or permitted to retain.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (CCPA/CPRA), you have the rights listed above, including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and disclosed, the right to correct or delete it, and the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined by law. We do not sell personal information for money. To the extent our matching of consumer inquiries with contractors is treated as “sharing” under California law, you can avoid it by not submitting an inquiry, and you may submit an opt-out request or use a recognized opt-out preference signal. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. California’s “Shine the Light” law also lets California residents request information about disclosures to third parties for those parties’ direct marketing; you may make that request using the contact details below.
Third-Party Sites and Sources
The Service links to government databases, third-party platforms, and other external sites we do not control. This Policy does not cover those sites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their policies separately.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to provide notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
